So we might be aware that meridians are a map of the body, the energy pathways in the body, and each set of pathways relates to particular organs and parts of the body, and a lot of us now have heard of meridians and aware of them as part of our physical health.

What Mike Mandel the author, that's Mike M-A-N-D-L what he has done is he has put together notions around the physical aspect of meridians with notions around different aspects of the self and different fundamental life principles.

Chinese medicine has been around for much, much longer than Western medicine and has been practiced by many, many more people than has Western medicine, so it's incredibly grounded in that sense, and there are many branches to it.

There are different schools, there are different points of view about different aspects of it, and it incorporates things such as acupuncture, chinese massage and more, and all of these utilize the meridian system more.

If you have worked with me in regard to Pelua, you will know that one of the things Pelua does is to unblock and realign the meridians.

The difference between that statement in relation to Pelua and what Mike Mandel is doing in his book is that when we work with Pellewa, we are receiving an energetic intervention, if you like, from source which we can't physically see, or most of us can't physically see it, and we may not be able to even physically feel it.

All that happens is that we notice the effects of it later, but the rational mind or the scientific mind really doesn't have any data to work with, and I think there's great value to that.

Equally, I think there's great value to a slightly more pragmatic source of data, particularly for those of us who find that much more accessible and a way in to understanding something and engaging with something and trusting to it, leaning into it.

He's been working with it for a long time and what he's done is he's pulled together this marvelous book where he says that meridians are the bridge between the psyche and soma, and by soma he means the system that allows our life force to flow through our body, and he's explaining how each of the 12 main meridians stands for a fundamental life principle and that by examining them, we can begin or continue our journey towards better health, as well as freedom and contentment.

So this is a bit of a mixture of an information book, a self-help book, and it's very entertaining.

It's very easy to read, he's got tremendous wit and humor, and the author even includes a toolbox for self-diagnostic purposes, showing how you can strengthen the various principles, correct imbalances and keep in harmony with yourself through daily observation and maintenance.

My personal experience with meridians is working with pelluaewa, as I mentioned, but also receiving acupuncture treatments, for which I'm a fan and to which I personally respond very favorably and I say almost, that's not true.

I've actually felt meridians unblocking and energy flowing more freely as a result of acupuncture treatments.

It's not always comfortable, but it's always incredibly liberating and healing and nourishing, because the energy is the life force, and what better food than that?
